Surf Lifesaving Since 1953
When Aussie Alan Kennedy arrived in Cornwall, he set up Britain's First Club.
He knew from Australian WW2 servicemen that the Atlantic surf would remind him of home, so he travelled to Bude.
In 1953 Bude Surf Lifesaving Club was incorporated and made official with the award of 12 "Bronze Medallions" to Britain's first lifesavers.
Today, over 10,000 Surf Lifesaving 'Clubbies' in coastal communities participate in volunteer beach patrols, youth training and compete in one of the most physically demanding sporting events between the beach and the ocean.
Nippers start at aged 7, they go on to train fully as professional lifeguards as they turn 16, many will take lifeguard jobs with the RNLI keeping the beaches safe, some will make it their career, others will represent Great Britain on the World Stage.
Most will volunteer back into their clubs patrolling the beaches and training up the next generation - Surf Lifeaving is a true vocation.

The Isle of Man TT
The world's most recognised event
In 2019, Tennessee native Robin Birdsall, fed up with seeing single-use plastic bottles, decided to do something.
Together with close friend and business partner Cory Dickson, they founded The AB Project. Cory would run US operations in Tennessee, Robin would run European operations from the Isle of Man where she had settled with her husband Ian.
The AB Project's mission would be clear - promote the use of reusable bottles with a focus on events, which are synonymous with single-use plastic waste - especially the contemptible plastic bottle!
Connecting these dots, The AB Project now manufactures brandable mobile refill stations to quickly install and supply chilled, filtered water.
Augmented with intrinsically collectable Branded Event Bottles, events and associated brands get retention of long-term promotional value.
For the fifth year, The AB Project has been the official Hydration Partner for the Isle of Man TT & thanks to a future Netflix special, the TT has extended this contract to 2029.

Gemma Joined The AB Project in 2024
Whilst her son was competing in the 2024 SLSGB Nipper Nationals in Branksome, she noticed how essential hydration needed to be for the event.
The very next year she made it happen.
Since the event, we've seen Surflifesavers from Nippers to Masters on beaches everywhere with their 2025 SLSGB Nationals Bottles!

But Don't Just Take Our Word for It...
The Isle of Man TT have worked alongside the AB Project since 2022, with the AB Project supplying branded filtered water stations and retail sale points of their insulated TT branded bottles.
In partnership with the AB Project, the Isle of Man TT has made strides in reducing the single use plastic at the event to such an extent we now prohibit the sale of single use plastic at the TT Grandstand. The AB Project refill points have saved the use of more that 100,000 single use water bottles in 2025 alone.
The AB Project have provided hydration to the public as well as dedicated hydration stations in restricted areas, such as the Hospitality facility, medical facility and assembly areas. This provides the chilled filtered water service to all users of the site.
This initiative enhances the ESG profile of The Isle of Man TT, reduces waste cleanup and provides a positive environmental impact for the Island, its residents, and visitors.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to The AB Project for their fantastic support of RE Hydration Support at the 2025 SLSGB National Championships in Weymouth. Their contribution played a huge part in helping us deliver a sustainable and successful event.
A special thank you to Gemma Sutton, whose organisation and attention to detail were outstanding throughout. The reusable bottles provided were a huge hit with competitors and volunteers alike practical, high quality, and perfectly aligned with our sustainability goals.
We truly appreciate The AB Project’s commitment to promoting hydration and environmental responsibility at our event, and we look forward to working together again in the future.
Working with The AB Project has been an absolute pleasure. They were a key partner for the 2026 UK Surf & Skate Expo, and we look forward to working with them in the future.
